Foot Care Services offer a specialist Sports Analysis service for individuals who wish to improve their performance in sport. When combined with a pair of custom-made footbeds (comfort or, where appropriate, prescriptive orthotics), this service will greatly improve balance and ensure the even distribution of pressure throughout and across the feet.

Specialist Sports Analysis: Our resident bio-mechanist (foot specialist) will undertake a detailed biomechanical examination, including gait and posture analysis within one of our Gait laboratories.

The assessment involves use of a treadmill and cameras to analyse posture, gait, balance and general skeletal movement. This will enable our specialist to make specific recommendations (including type of footwear) for enhanced performance as well as protection and recovery from injury.

Golf: how custom-made footbeds can help your game Biomechanics, the application of the skeleton’s movement focused in the lower limb such as the feet, play a crucial part in developing the perfect golf swing. The lateral motion and the pivoting intrinsic to the golf swing can be functionally impeded by certain biomechanical foot conditions. If bio-mechanical imbalances are present, these existing stresses will overload certain structures and predispose the golfer to overuse muscles and strain ligaments and tendons. Custom-made insoles will balance the weight loading on the lower extremity and help rest the overused muscle. By ensuring the even distribution of your weight, they will also improve your balance and, as a result, your swing will become more consistent. For the foot that is dysfunctional, due to bio-mechanical conditions such as excessive pronation (rolling in) or supination (rolling out), a state of optimal bio-mechanics can be achieved through the use of prescriptive orthotics (custom-made footbeds designed by a foot specialist).
